Religioscope
Religioscope was launched in 2001, originally at www.religioscope.com and, after securing the www.religion.info domain name, moved to its current address. It is a bilingual (French-English) academic website, offering information and analysis on religious factors and trends in today's world. Based in Switzerland, it is edited since 2008 by the Religioscope Institute, a small, private research center on contemporary religion. The website is not affiliated with any religious movement and strives to provide balanced, insightful information. It has often been quoted by major media organizations.
Why they chose a .INFO site:
I am the founder and editor of Religioscope. When the .INFO domain names were launched, I immediately felt this was exactly the type of TLD appropriate for an informational website. I was lucky enough to secure religion.info in 2002, during LR2. I first used it temporarily as a second website for short news items and subsequently decided to make it the main Religioscope website. In my opinion, news organizations as well as other groups putting the emphasis on information should consider .INFO as a primary TLD.
