Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany

germany.info.JPG
Germany.info is the joint website of the German Embassy, the German Information Center and the eight Consulates General in the United States. We offer information on consular and legal services from passport renewals to birth certificates to citizenship issues. In addition, Germany.info offers a wide variety of information on German foreign policy, climate policy, economy, culture, travel destinations and more. WE use the .INFo -Domain since approximately 2002.

Why they chose a .INFO site:

At the time we made a conscious decision to move our website from the .org domain to the .info domain because it simply was more suited to our website's mission. Moreover, we already called ourselves "Germany Info," so with the .info domain our corporate identity was neatly integrated into our URL.

The Germany.info address is short, concise and to the point, and therefore, it is well suited for use in all forms of material and publications that we make available to the public, including promotional campaigns. The .info ending also reflects our mission of offering information. In addition, the word "info" is also equally understandable in the three languages of our website,English, German and Spanish.

MTA subways, buses, and railroads provide 2.4 billion trips each year to New Yorkers — the equivalent of about one in every three users of mass transit in the United States and two-thirds of the nation's rail riders. MTA bridges and tunnels carry more than 300 million vehicles a year — more than any bridge and tunnel authority in the nation. This vast transportation network — North America's largest — serves a population of 14.6 million people in the 5,000-square-mile area fanning out from New York City through Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. The MTA.info website contains information including fare, schedule, maps, and service alerts. The MTA.info website is also accessible from any web-enabled hand-held mobile device.

As the 15th largest corporation in Québec, the STM provides 364 million trips per year, or 1.3 million trips on average each day of the week, which accounts for 85% of all public transit trips in Québec. Public transportation is more than just an essential service: there is no doubt about the structuring role it plays in Montreal’s economic and social development. Indeed, hundreds of thousands of commuters use public transit to get to work, to school or to their leisure activities. Since its inception in 1997, the number of visitors to our Website has been steadily increasing, reaching seventeen million in 2007. Such numbers clearly illustrate our Website’s vital role as an information outlet, since it also provides helpful ways of planning any commute within our system.
